25 YEARS OF SHIPO; A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDERS

This year 2026 sets a remarkable milestone for SHIPO: we celebrate 25 years of existence. As one of the founder members of SHIPO we like to share a message.
What began as a small but ambitious idea rooted in hope and determination in 2001, has grown into an organisation that has touched thousands of lives across Njombe region and far beyond.
We are proud of what SHIPO has been able to realize up to now such as;
- The office space and training facilities and the demonstration site we have been able to establish,
- The tangible deliverables through Implementation of what we stand for as a Participatory Organisation,
- And that also being able to remain relevant in a changing world.
Our impact has never been about numbers alone. It has been about creating impact for people; Families who have gained access to clean water, a better school environment for children, and about artisans and people in the communities building a sustainable livelihood through the realization and use of affordable technologies.
We have faced different challenges over the years, but we also learned, adapted, and kept moving forward. And we did it together.
Honour to you all; all employees, stakeholders from the government, community leaders, people in the communities, entrepreneurs, donors, other partners and friends who have walked this journey with us… thank you all! For Your dedication, participation, creativity, and belief in local solutions have made SHIPO what it is today.
To everyone who has contributed to this 25‑year story, we hope you will be part of the journey still ahead and together we can continue to respond to today’s challenges and build on resilience, innovation, and entrepreneurship with people and communities.
