The Southern Highlands Participatory Organisation (SHIPO) is proud to present our Strategic Plan for 2022–2026, a roadmap to deepen our impact in providing safe water, hygiene, sanitation, and quality education to communities in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. Building on over two decades of experience, this plan outlines our vision to foster sustainable, inclusive development through innovative solutions and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
From 2022 to 2026, SHIPO aims to become a leading trainer and innovator in WASH and education, focusing on women, youth, farmers, and children as key target groups. We will expand our work in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and environmental conservation by promoting SMARTechs (Simple, Market-based, Affordable, Repairable Technologies) and agro-ecological farming, while addressing climate change through awareness and hazard preparedness. In education, we are committed to improving school environments, teacher training, and digital learning in 54 schools across Ludewa and Mbozi districts, with plans to scale further.
Our strategic ambitions include creating green jobs, mainstreaming SMARTechs, enhancing solid waste management, and ensuring inclusive education for all. By strengthening partnerships with donors like SKAT, PCF, and IKI, and networks such as TAWASANET and SMART Centre, we will mobilize resources and amplify our impact. SHIPO’s participatory approach, rooted in community engagement and sustainability, will guide us as we work toward resilient, self-reliant communities.
