SHIPO UNDERTAKES SCHOOL BASED WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS

     156 teachers from Lubonde, Milo, Mlangali and Mawengi wards benefited from the school based workshops conducted by SHIPO from 24th February 2020 through 11th March 2020. A total of 20 primary school were involved in the workshops that addressed academic and school management themes.

SHIPO STANDS TO CURB MALNUTRITION

     The 53.6% stunting rate as far as child nutrition status is referred in the Tanzania National Nutrition Survey 2018 led to Njombe regional nutrition office assembling a special meeting to purposely evaluate the implementation of the regional contract in addressing malnutrition and stunting among children in Njombe.

Inservice training on mathematics and science for teachers conducted at SHIPO from 16th to 25th September 2019

60 Mathematics and science teachers of 20 schools in Ludewa District together with 4 Ward Education Officers benefited from the in-service teacher training conducted at SHIPO from 16th to 25th September 2019. Various topics identified as the most difficult were worked upon under the Vikindu tutors’ facilitation.

MATOWO WATER SYSTEM

Project Location: Matowo village, Usuka Ward in Njombe District

Project Beneficiaries: Matowo Community

Project Description:

SHIPO, Connect International and Winrock International were agreed to implement this project of Matowo by Improving infrastructures for water at Matowo and also to develop \domestic point in to the intended village of Matowo.

The project was based on connecting main pipe from Dulamu water tank to water tank at Matowo village. Also digging of pipes terrace for transports water from Dulamu village to Matowo village water tank and to distribute to the intended village (Matowo).

Construction/ Improvement of seven (7) domestic point, Also to enabling society / community of Matowo to participate fully to Community Own Water Society Organization (COWSO).

Finishing kitchen construction at Lugarawa Primary School

Project Location: Lugarawa Village at Ludewa District, Iringa Region (Currently Njombe Region)

Project Beneficiaries: Community of Lugarawa Primary School.

Project Description:

The project was based on construction of the school kitchen at Lugarawa Primary School. Southern Highlands Participatory Organization (SHIPO) and Nessuno Escluso Onlus Organization were agreed to implement this project for the aim of improving education environment at Lugarawa Village.

SHIPO was responsible for community sensitization, monitoring/supervision, evaluation,

creation of community sense of ownership of the project. And the community was responsible to provide helpers (e.g. local masons, local materials etc.) during the entire construction period.

SHIPO will be responsible for the implementation of the activities by using its approaches.

Mapanda Girls Domitory

Project Location: Mapanda Village at Kihansi Secondary School Mufindi District, Iringa Region

Project Beneficiaries: Kihansi Girls Secondary School

Project Description:

The project was based on constructing dormitory for girls at Mapanda secondary school. Southern Highlands Participatory Organization (SHIPO), Lyra and GRL were agreed to implement this project for the aim of improving education environment at Mapanda Village.

SHIPO was responsible for implementation of the construction activities to final completion. Green Resource Limited was responsible in providing necessary transport of SHIPO masons and officers from Mafinga to Chogo and back.

The project was to construct Rain water Harvesting system at Isitu primary school at Isitu village, the project was based on digging four pits for the rain water harvesting system, Also construction of wall, plastering and Installation of rope pump and final to install gutters from roof to the pits which were completed.

The project based on construction of 2 (two) student Latrines buildings, consisting of 8 drop holes for girls and 8 for boys at Kihata Primary School, Uchindile Village, Together with the community of Uchindile Village.
